45 Degree Hyper Extention

This piece is making a major comeback as one of the best ways to bring up the lower back and hamstrings. The 45 Degree Hyper can help enhance the squat, dead-lift, lunge, and power clean because you can built a good foundation, so you can feel confident that their backs aren’t going to round forward or hyper-extend very easily, their glutes are strong and can turn on when needed, their hamstrings are loose enough to allow for a healthy range of forward bending motion, and their hip flexors are loose enough to allow for full hip extension.

Stray Dog Strength Fire Out Stations

Newest Stray Dog innovation is our Fire Out Wall.  Made from same parts and attachments as our Rack System. The unit allows you to train multiple athletes with bands, bodyweight exercises or barbells.  The center section is six feet wide so two barbells can be used simultaneously or band work outside body core.  Because it bolts to the wall it has super small footprint - it only uses two feet (from the wall) of room.

Dumbbell Squat Press

By:Derek Fry, MS, ATC, NASM-PES, NASE
“If you could only do one exercise, what would it be?” The Dumbbell Squat Press.

One exercise CAN make all the difference! I believe that if you only had time for one exercise, you should be able to narrow it down to something that can do it all. I know that this isn’t necessarily realistic, but we see it all the time. Things like 15 minute abs or whole body workout routines in magazines for people on the go or with limited time are, a lot of times, great routines that people try for a short period and then quit. Perhaps the magazines or videos don’t go into enough detail about what one exercise can do for you. Let’s explore my favorite! Click Here to read article.

Eastern Washington Univ

Eastern Washington University Installation

The Equipment Guys did an excellent job with the install at Eastern. Matt was able to break down and set up 11 platforms in the matter of 2 days. They were professional, cooperative and communicative. The athletes love to look and functionality of the new platforms. They have helped us feel like we've taken a step up as a department.

Bluffton University Sommer Center Installation

The whole process of meeting with Nick and Matt was fantastic. They spent countless hours talking and walking us through this process as we wanted to be as thorough as possible.  The equipment is first class and is designed and built to add on in the future based on what the current is in the industry. The flooring is outstanding and it has gotten positive reviews from all.  The installation part of this process has also been smooth and timely. We needed to have it done by a certain date for our public dedication and they were able to meet that deadline.
Overall, the whole process and experience has been first class and I would highly recommend The Equipment Guys to anyone that is considering doing anything (new or upgrade) in their weights  and fitness facilities.

Stray Dog Strength CDS Dumbbells - PRODUCT HISTORY / STORY / IDEA BEHIND PRODUCT

"Innovation thru solving customer's needs" Invented in 2003 by The Equipment Guys

Ethan Reeve Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at Wake Forest University believes in dumbbell training. He was an early pioneer of the rack concept and wanted to train dumbbells at his racks. After looking at the dollar amount and floor space that it would take it was deemed not feasible.

Matt Purdy, Founder of The Equipment Guys, proposed a couple solutions. Why not have a few adjustable pairs so that you only have to change a few plates? More less like a barbell strength groups.

Boom a product idea was born. Necessity is the mother of invention. Prototype was produced and then 20 sets were installed at Wake Forest in summer of 2003 and have been in use ever since.

Installations at Auburn University, University of North Carolina, UCLA, Univ. of Memphis, Virginia Military Institute and many others followed.

Fostoria High School Weight Room Install

This weight room was 5 years in the making and Nick worked with us throughout the entire process.  The installation was very quick and coordinated.  The quality of the equipment and flooring is second to none.  Not only does everything 'pop' visually, but everything is heavy duty and build to last.  The room looks 100% different when compared to our old equipment, which is a great motivator for our kids.  The 4 half racks provide eight stations for workouts, while the rest of the athletes can rotate through the glute/hams, reverse hypers, pull downs, etc, providing us with an efficient system to get as many kids working out at the same time as possible.   Click Here to View Photos
